Cumberland Presbyterian Church

Cumberland Presbyterian Church was established in 1852. The building was built in 1872 with bricks made on the site. The bell was specially cast. The clock tower had no clock but the times for worship services were painted on its four faces. It was once the largest congregation in Texas. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Dear Friend:
Jesus said,
"You are my friends if you do whatever I command you.
No longer do I call you servants ... but I have called you friends. "
Jesus is your best friend! And the family of God's people provides the way for Christians
to live out the redeeming reality that we are a congregation of friends. It is also true to say
that it is the way to live out the reality of Christian friendship, through worship, service,
Bible study, and fellowship, life touches life with Christian love.

When we carry out our Lord's commands the family is richly blessed and the circle of friendship is made ever larger. This Cumberland family endeavors to carry out Christ's commands through ministry to every age and to every need. Blessed with a marvelous church facility, it is the privilege of this congregation to reach out in Christian friendship to people of every age and condition in the Jefferson area of East Texas.

Let all who know us and become a part of us understand that we are Family.
